形態特徵

• Annual or biennial herbs. Stems erect, grayish green, 25–55 cm tall, striate, often branched in upper part, villous.
• Leaves green on upper surface, pale on lower surface, white villous on both surfaces, margins apiculate-crenate; radical and lower cauline leaves in rosettes, obovate to spatulate, apex obtuse or rounded, base attenuate to winged petiole, auriculate, 4–13 cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide, sessile; gradually reduced upward, becoming lanceolate to linear-lanceolate.
• Heads globose, 4–5 mm long, 6–8 mm across, numerous, in terminal glomerules or tight corymbs; peduncle slender, 3–10 mm long, villous. Involucre hemispheric, 5–6 mm long, bracts in 2 or 3 series, scarious, imbricate, lanceolate, acute, purplish at apex, sparsely pubescent, outer bracts shorter, 3–3.5 mm long, inner bracts 4–5 mm long. Receptacle hemispheric, fimbriate. Ray florets numerous, corolla filiform, yellow, 1.5 mm long, ciliate; style 3 mm long, prominent, red-purple, nearly equalling pappus. Disc florets ca. 15, corolla funnelform, upper part ca. 1.2 mm long, lower ca. 2.5 mm long, 5-lobed, lobes ovate, red-purple, each lobe with 2 or 3 hairs.
• Achenes pale brown, obovate, flattened, ca. 0.8 mm long, ca. 0.3 mm wide, minutely puberulous. Pappus bristels white, slightly reddish, in one row, capillary, subequal, 4–6 mm long at maturity, deciduous. Flowering year round in Taiwan.
• Chromosome number, 2n = 18 (Peng & Hsu, 1978).

• 台灣 : common from low elevations to ca. 2,000 m.
• 世界 : Afghanistan, India, Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, mainland China, the Ryukyus and Japan.
